Garlic and rosemary plus the above go into our version. My recipe is based on a dirty, well loved page of the 1976 Leggo’s cook book. Ministrone remains the family favourite soup even thought I have heard the kid’s call it “Dad’s Rubbish Soup” because it is good for using up all those leftovers that are necessary to maintain a modicum of family economy.

Yes, well, the food editor of that publication knows what I think about arbitrary, selective lists like that! Seriously, almost by definition the bestest minestrone in Victoria is almost certainly NOT to be found in any restaurant. I’ll have a read anyway – if I see a copy lying around somewhere!

Sounds great. It always amuses me when a restaurant lists ‘minestrone’ on the menu then serves up a soup with a meat stock base or even meat in it. My favourite Italian soup is brodo—do you like that/cook it?

So after he pats dogs and has a smoke during his 16hr day do you follow him into the shop and see if he washes his hands . Since when has it been a crime for a local trader to get out front of his business and show that he’s normal like everyone else . How about you go in and do a bake and see if you can keep clean , and how does a persons shoes have anything to do with what is baked and served . If you have a problem with it come in and say something instead of hiding behind a website .

Bruce and June keep up the good work i will be back time and time again .

I suspect there is a life cycle thing happening as well. Waiter, barista, manager, owner and so on. I was also wondering about the stereotypes: women out front with their social skills; men with their coffee/washing/cooking/commercial cleaning machines (I know blokes sometimes forget how to use cleaning machines at home). But perhaps it’s better to leave that debate to another day.
