As part of a promotion in which Consider The Sauce is participating with the Bank of Melbourne, we have two tickets to give away to the World’s Longest Lunch – on Friday, March 2, from noon at Alexandra Park, Alexandra Ave, South Yarra.
What a cool prize – these hot Melbourne Food & Wine Festival tickets are worth $135 each!
Our competition is open to Consider The Sauce email subscribers and Facebook friends.
All you have to do is reply to this post and tell us, in 25 words or less, what is your favourite western suburbs eating joint and why you dig it so much.
No entries will be accepted after 6pm on Sunday, February 26.
The winner will be announced on the morning of Monday, February 27.
The judge’s decision will be final and no correspondence will entered into!

UPDATE: Forgot to mention … we’d love the winner to take a bunch of photos of their grand lunch and write a post for Consider The Sauce, but we won’t make it mandatory!
Hien Vuong – because the pho is unselfconscious and comforting, they remember scissors for my son’s spring rolls, and Elvis music is never outta style

Does Flemington count? The Abyssinian gets my vote, my first introduction to Ethiopian food and I loved it – sour injera bread such a new taste!

Yes, Catty, it counts! Our western suburbs go from Willy to the Bellarine Peninsula to Bacchus Marsh to Brunswick/Coburg! Others’ mileage may vary!

The Bellarine… that widens the scope just a tad! Queenscliff fish ‘n’ chip shop would be my second entry (if I could have one). It used to kick arse when I’d go down and stay with my grandparents, not sure if it still does. 😀

Sapa Hills. Great food, a bit upmarket but still down to earth friendly Footscray. The vego coleslaw, tofu skewers and avocado smoothies are the best

I love Pho 264 at Richmond, because the turtles are such a joy to watch when I’m savouring my Pho and rice paper rolls!
P/S: Go after 7pm so you get to go upstairs!

If the Bellarine Peninsula is allowed…. Loam. Local ingredients, each passionately explained. Flavours so intense and pure, to be savoured and appreciated one by one. A truly enriching experience.

And the winner is … Daniel, the fist entry. I like the scissors and the spring rolls. And even if he does dig Elvis!
