There are big changes afoot at this prominently positioned Footscray landmark.
The new operators plan to continue running both the food side of the business and its motel aspect.
My informant was unable to provide me with much by way of details – likely to be pitched somewhere in modern Australian/gastro pub in terms of food; likely to be open for business early-ish 2013.
Extensive refurbishment of the premises appears to be at its starting stages.

Interesting! The Plough is only a few hundred yards from home so that’s welcome news. I thought it was gone for good.
I noticed some signs of building works inside a week ago, though I wrote that off as the place being gutted. Happy that it could be about to be reborn 🙂

Read somewhere else last night that the Station Hotel is the new owners’ inspiration. But as you say hope there’s a mix of prices and not just $30+ per main.

Unattributed comment on a blog when I searched for more info on the reno. But since the commenter was accurate in knowing the reno would proceed, there may be some credence in it.

Peeped through the windows today while walking past. Still a work in progress but the new fit out featured wooden floorboards ready to be polished, and lots more wood and white tiles. They’ve opened the space right up too and removed the wall that used to be between the dining room and bar. Will be interesting to see how it ends up but the notion that the owners were inspired by the Station may not be too far off the mark.

Can’t be far from opening… They’re hiring.
According to the ad:
